Crystal and Essential Oil Pairings for Kids (and Adults)

Crystals and essential oils contain powerful grounding energies that are enhanced when used together.  Plus, essential oils have additional mood-boosting effects.

Below are three crystal and essential oil pairings that complement each other. These can be especially helpful for children as they embark on a new journey into the new world of online learning, or as they attend school with masks and social distancing.

If this is your first time introducing crystals to your child, I invite you to check out my book, Using Gemstones to Connect to Your Superpowers!

Try these crystal and essential oil rituals with the children in your life or on your own.

Here are a few simple ways to incorporate essential oils:

  • Diffuse in an essential oil diffuser

  • Apply a drop to your hands, rub your hands together, and inhale (take 3 deep breaths)

Rose Quartz + Rose Essential Oil (or dōTERRA Stronger™ Oil)

Self-love is important at any age, and the younger we learn how to love ourselves, the better off we are moving forward! When we can take every new step forward and feel kindness, acceptance, and love for ourselves, we can make it through tougher times and thrive in the light of our happiest days.

Any time you’d benefit from being more patient and loving with yourself and others, find a quiet moment and hold rose quartz in your hands. Take a moment to feel the weight and coolness—hold it until it becomes light and warm in your palms. Breathe in the floral scent and feel the warmth spread through you. You can also rub a little rose oil on your heart. If you’re guiding a child through this process, invite them to bring their hands to their heart. Focus on love, gratitude, and appreciation. You can repeat the words, “I am deeply loved, love surrounds me, I am worthy of love.”

Amethyst + Lavender Essential Oil (or dōTERRA Calmer™ Oil)

Children can be stressed and in need of comforting just like adults—especially during this time of transition. Purple is the color of the third-eye chakra—it can help put the world into perspective and keep you grounded when anxiety or worry set in.

This duo can also help with sleep. Children can look to amethyst and lavender as their sleepy-time magic. With the help of an adult, they can roll diluted lavender oil on their wrist or spritz it in the air. If you have a small, tumbled amethyst to work with, you can place the crystal on their third eye as they breathe. This requires some balance and can become a time to giggle out any leftover anxiety! If you have a raw cut or larger piece of amethyst, simply place it on a nearby nightstand.

Lie on your back and concentrate on breathing down through your belly. Kids new to this can imagine inflating their bellies like a balloon. They can also imagine a beautiful purple light glowing inside of them and shining outward in all directions. Concentrate on softening the muscles starting from the top of your head and ending at the tips of your toes. You can repeat the words, “I am peaceful and relaxed.”

Tiger’s Eye + Citrus Bliss Essential Oil (or dōTERRA Brave™ Oil)

We’ve talked a bit about tiger’s eye in my blog before, so you might remember that it helps us tap into our own power and confidence. Any citrus essential oil, like orange or lemon, complements the power of tiger’s eye to uplift and energize.

This duo is a great choice for children who are feeling intimidated by attending school this year, or any other challenges in their path. This energy can aid self-esteem, courage, and confidence to help overcome any reservations or obstacles that stand in our way.

Relax your shoulders and sit up straight. Imagine a string coming from the top of your head, pulling your posture nice and tall and lengthening your spine. Take 3 slow and deep breaths. Repeat this mantra to yourself: “I am strong, grounded, and confident.”

If you’re working with a child, have them hold the stone, breathe in the scent of the oils, and imagine they are the strongest creature they can conjure up! A simple mantra for them could be: “I am brave and confident like a lion!”
